Even in Har Ganeth, where transgressions against the law were always punished with a ruthless fanaticism, the leaders of the Bloodcleave stood out as zealots, for they would often execute not only the lawbreaker, but also any members of his or her family that lay within three generations. Indeed, many accredited Hellebron's refusal to dissolve the Bloodcleave with a fear of causing them offence. The truth of the matter, however, was that Hellebron gloried in their zeal, for it rid her of many opponents she would otherwise have had to eliminate herself.[1a]
