The Curse of Tzeentch, also called Tzeentch's Curse, is the name given by magic-users to the unpredictable effects that can result from the practice of arcane magic. The use of arcane magic is not an exact science; it can be an unpredictable art even for the most skilled or experienced practicioners.[1a]

The more magical energy a wizard channels to cast a spell, the more likely it is that something unexpected will happen. It is this uncertainty that is the heart of Tzeentch's Curse. Of course, only the most base and power-hungry of wizards honour Tzeentch, the Chaos God of magic, intrigue, ambition and change, but all fear him.[1a]

Such potential unwanted side-effects of magic use range from a catastrophic spell misfire, to the physical mutation of the caster and any bystanders, to the radical reshaping of the physical landscape in a manner similar to that of the Chaos Wastes, to daemonic possession by Aethyric entities, or fatal variations of any of these outcomes.[1a]
