An Empire Handgunner of the Nuln Ironsides
The Nuln Ironsides are one of the most numerous of the famed Iron Companies of Nuln. Clad in heavy plate armour and armed with master-wrought blackpowder firearms, the Nuln Ironsides are among the most widely respected and well-equipped handgunner regiments within the Empire.[1a]
The Nuln Ironsides, depicted here in combat in Total War: Warhammer III, are elite handgunners raised from the city of Nuln.[3]
Regiments of Nuln Ironsides are drawn from the guards, retainers and apprentices of the renowned Imperial Gunnery School of their home city, and are fitted out in a panoply of black-enamelled, iron plate armour reflecting the wealth and status of their patrons. The current field commander of the Ironsides is Castellan-Engineer Jubal Falk, an engineer with a flair for tactical matters who many see as a rising star and future guildmaster of the school.[2a]
With access to a two-handed rifle and a sword as a backup if their line is broken, the Nuln Ironsides are best-suited to serve in an Imperial army alongside their fellow handgunners, launching a barrage of lead across the lands to support their frontline melee troops.[3]
