Rendering of the Staff of Volans from Total War: Warhammer
The Staff of Volans belonged to the first Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges of Magic, who was taught by Teclis of Ulthuan during the Great War Against Chaos. It has been the symbol of office for the Supreme Patriarchs ever since, allowing the wielder to bend the Winds of Magic more easily to his will.[1a]

According to Warhammer Armies: Empire (4th Edition). the staff was originally forged by Fredrick von Tarnus,[2a] while in Warhammer Armies: Empire (6th Edition) it was the staff of Yrtle, one of the High elven Archmages that accompained Teclis.[3a]
