Empire Warhorse

An Imperial warhorse

Warhorses, also called destriers, are the finest examples of horseflesh in the Old World.[1a][2a]

Larger than a riding horse, faster than a draught horse, warhorses are the product of meticulous breeding and years of training and careful conditioning. Intact stallions are favoured as mounts of war, due to their increased aggression and power. Bretonnian Warhorses are the greatest of all warhorses, majestic beasts that are ridden into battle by the knights of Bretonnia.[1a][2a]

The heavy warhorses are the preferred steeds of knights throughout the Empire of Man. Built for combat, a single hit from one of their steel-shod hooves can cave the skull of a lesser man. Furthermore, they are trained to overcome the natural fears of other horses and can withstand the sounds of combat, the sound of firearms, the smell of blood, and other terrors that inspire fear in lesser beasts.[3a]
